Yabby & Crayfish Nutrition
Can your aquarium use a yabby? These native Australian crawfish are popular as pets, although in some establishments, they appear on the human menu!
A yabby appreciates dechlorinated water, which should be changed about every two weeks. Yabbies breathe in oxygenated water, so it is important to have a working pump. A yabby needs some form of underwater “cave” where it can hide, therefore the creative use of rocks or driftwood is essential. Yabbies are known for climbing out of the tank, so aquarium owners need to keep the cover on to prevent escapes.
Yabbies are omnivorous, but they do well on algae wafers and other nutritionally balanced food.
